Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
With this Ringvorlesung, the research concentration 'Cultures of the Euromediterranean and Ancient Studies' contributes to the 650 anniversary celebrations of the University of Vienna. It aims to introduce the different disciplines of ancient studies that are represented at the University of Vienna, by highlighting their subject matter, approaches and methods. Particular emphasis will be placed on the relation between the respective disciplines at the University of Vienna and international developments with regard to research, teaching and institutional representation of these subjects.
Assessment and permitted materials
6 resumes on lectures of the students' choice, no more than 400 words each.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will be introduced to the manifold methods in researching Europe and the Mediterranean in antiquity and late antiquity (until ca. 800). At the same time, the Ringvorlesung will showcase the wide variety of research and instruction in these fields represented at the University of Vienna.
