Aims, contents and method of the course
Die Übung fokussiert auf die sogenannte Bankenfrage, den politischen Skandal um die Investoren der Minen und den Konflikt zwischen Arbeitnehmern und Arbeitgebern in Lavrion in den Jahren 1871-1873/4. Diese kurze Krise dient als Anlass um Kapitel griechischer Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte des 19. Jahrhunderts vertiefend zu besprechen, wie z.B.: Internationale Investoren und griechische Investoren aus der Diaspora; Das Verhältnis des Staates und der Politik zu privaten Investitionen; Anfänge der Industrialisierung und Veränderung der Demographie und der Landschaft in Attika.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regelmäßige Anwesenheit; aktive Teilnahme in der Diskussion; 2 schriftliche Hausarbeiten; 1 mündliche Präsentation eines Artikels oder eines Buchkapitels
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Das Ziel besteht einerseits in der geleiteten Aneignung von Wissenstechniken, andererseits in der bewußten Wahrnehmung der vielen Gesichter des langen europäischen 19. Jahrhunderts.
Examination topics
Anhand von kleinen Übungen zu Demographie und Statistik sowie durch das Erstellen von Kurzbiographien der Hauptakteure der Krise werden die Studierenden einen unmittelbaren Einblick in die Quellenlage bekommen. Ferner soll durch kritische Lektüre der nationalen und internationalen Berichterstattung die unterschiedliche Wahrnehmung und Darstellung der "griechischen Krise" besprochen werden.
