Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Die Dionysiaka, das 48 Gesänge und ca. 22 000 Hexameter umfassende und vermutlich unvollendet gebliebene dichterische Werk des Nonnos von Panopolis, stellt das umfangreichste erhaltene griechische Epos der Antike dar. Die überaus große Zahl an heidnischen Mythen, die in das Gedicht eingearbeitet sind, wird durch die Figur des Dionysos zusammengehalten. Das übergeordnete Thema ist der Siegeszug des Gottes durch die gesamte antike Welt einschließlich Indiens. Die Erzählung spannt dabei den Bogen von Geschichten zu den Vorfahren des Gottes, über seine Geburt und Kindheit, den Kriegszug gegen die Inder sowie die Verbreitung seines Kultes und seine letztendliche Aufnahme unter die olympischen Götter.Im SE werden ausgewählte Stellen aus den Dionysiaka des Nonnos von Panopolis übertetzt und interpretiert.
