Aims, contents and method of the course
Der biblische Text nimmt in einer christlichen Gesellschaft wie Byzanz einen zentralen Platz im Denken ein. Die Komplexität des biblischen Textes, die Entwicklung der Gesellschaft in Bezug auf das im Alten Testament beschriebene Gesellschaftsmodell und die Probleme bei der Übersetzung ins Griechische (Septuaginta) bereiteten den byzantinischen Lesern große Schwierigkeiten. In diesem Proseminar soll die Verwendung der Bibel in der Predigt, bei der Lösung von Fragen, die in Byzanz diskutiert wurden, und in der Argumentation in Kontroversen analysiert werden. Es soll untersucht werden, wie die Byzantiner die Bibel lasen, zu welchen Zwecken sie sie benutzten, wie sie mögliche Widersprüche zwischen der Position, die sie vertreten wollten, und dem Bibeltext umgingen und wie sie eine Exegese konstruierten, die diese Schwierigkeiten löste. Dies wird es uns ermöglichen, eine Vielzahl von Themen zu diskutieren, unter anderem: Schöpfung, Erbsünde und Anthropologie, die Frage der Bilder und der Repräsentation, das Verbot der Astrologie und der Status der Gestirne, der Status von Traum und Vision, das politische Modell des Herrschers, der Gehorsam gegenüber der politischen Autorität, das Ende der Welt.
