Aims, contents and method of the course

Die UE bietet einen ausführlichen Überblick über die Geburt und Geschichte des neugriechischen (ngr.) Journalismus (der Presse bzw. anderer Medien) und dient (auch als Neugriechisch-Vertiefungskurs) zur systematischen Auseinandersetzung mit deren Sprache. Im Rahmen des Kurses werden die Kursteilnehmenden mit unterschiedlichen Stilen, Sprachregistern, ideologischen Konnotationen sowie banalen und stereotypen Formulierungen der ngr. journalistischen Sprache vertraut, sodass sie kompetent mit entsprechenden Texten arbeiten können. Von Interesse sind nicht nur die „mainstream“-Medien, welche sich mit aktuellen sozialen und politischen Themen befassen, sondern auch Tabloids (Boulevardzeitungen), populistische Medien jeder Art, Sportzeitungen usw.

Assessment and permitted materials

Jede Woche, nach einem kurzen Vortrag des Kursleiters über ein relevantes Thema, wird ein (von den Studierenden vorbereiteter) Text ausführlich besprochen. Neben der Übersetzung werden die pragmatischen und sprachlichen Besonderheiten und der soziopolitische Kontext analysiert.

Positiver Abschluss erfolgt durch aktive Teilnahme an der Diskussion (20%), die Präsentation mindestens eines Textes (40%) und das Bestehen eines online Αbschlusstests (40%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Kenntnisse des Neugriechischen: Mindestens B1-Niveau oder positiver Abschluss der LV „Neugriechisch IV“ am Institut für Byzantinistik und Neogräzistik

Anwesenheitspflicht, Studierende dürfen zweimal unentschuldigt fehlen.
