Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Content: Introduction to the history and culture of Byzantium combined with an overview of the history of Byzantine studies and related subjects and methodological approaches.
Aims: Acquisition of basic knowledge of the discipline of Byzantine studies and the history of the field.
Methods: Lectures with participation by the students in discussion and independent work with the sources.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written examination (100%). No additional materials may be consulted during the examination.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basic familiarity with the material covered in the course.
