Überblick über das Werk des Komödiendichters und dessen Einbindung in das Leben im Athen des 5. Jh. v. Chr. Es soll verständlich werden, warum die Komödie zu ihrer Zeit äußerst erfolgreich waren und warum für das Verständnis des Humors und des Witzes heute umfangreiche Erklärungen notwendig sind.
