Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of the course is to show students how to work with the figurative culture of Late Antiquity. After defining a common theme (i.e. an archaeological site or an ancient city) students will focus on the analysis of specific museum objects and monuments related to the chosen place. Everyone will be entrusted with the study of a series of artefacts in order to draft scientific catalogue cards which will be corrected and analysed together from time to time. Final purpose will be the editing of a booklet collecting all the cards. In this way it will be possible to gather virtually objects of different collections and link them to the archaeological site from where they come and provide an overview of the aspects of daily life of the period under examination.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular attendance, active participation and preparation of catalogue cards.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Each group of catalogue cards will be evaluated individually and must be evaluated positively. Regular attendance and presentation of the objects will each contribute 40% of the final evaluation and the active participation in the discussion the remaining 20%.
Examination topics
Seeing and describing artefacts and monument, writing scientific catalogue cards.
Reading list
Bibliography will be suggested to students according to treated subjects.
