Aims, contents and method of the course

Wärend der ganzen Zeit seines Bestehens kommunizierte das Byzantinische Reich mit seinen Nachbarn mittels hunderter Gesandtschaften. Sie dienten der Konfliktlösung, sollten Allianzen aufbauen und bewahren, aber auch Informationen über die Lage außerhalb der Grenzen beschaffen. Die zweisemestrige LV strebt einen historischen Überblick zur byzantinischen Diplomatie an will deren Träger, Dauer und Verlauf darstellen.

Basiswissen über die Entwicklung, Inhalte und Realia der byzantinischen Diplomatie.

Examination topics

Kapitelweise Präsentation der Inhalte durch den LV-Leiter, Lektüre ausgewählter Fachliteratur seitens der Teilnehmer.
