Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar will take place together with the art-historical seminar by prof. Martina Pippal, Stil und Modus von der Spätantike bis ins Hochmittelalter (080086). Its aim is to define certain elements in style and modus or in literary genera of the two different disciplines, to look for the function or intention of variatons and finally to compare the two disciplines concerning the common elements and differences. In the Latin part of the seminar this will be exercised on the theme of love in epic (Virgil), bucolic (Virgil), classical and medieval lyric (Horatius, Carmina Burana), philosophy (Boethius) and, of course, pagan and christian elegy (Ovid, Venantius). The oral papers concerning the Latin texts will be given regularly every monday, the papers concerning the history of arts at the end of the semester on one day.

oral paper of 45 minutes and written essay
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Lateinische Grammatik III and PS Einführung in das wiss. Arbeiten/Einführendes Seminar have to be passed.
