Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the course, techniques for documenting and processing ceramics will be taught. This includes drawing (analogue and digital), descriptive recording and identification based on the scientific literature. Special units are dedicated to archaeometric-technological examinations and professional find photography. In addition, the significance and scientific value of ceramics for archaeological research will be discussed in presentations.
The aim is to introduce the participants to ceramic research.
Ceramic objects (sherds, whole vessels) from the collections of the ÖAI serve as teaching examples.
