Registration to this Teaching excavation is only possible after sending a motivation letter (one page), to Prof. B. Hamarneh by 7th February 2022. Acceptance will be communicated by Monday 14th February 2022. Applications will not be accepted after that date.


Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the teaching excavation is to learn the necessary skills and tasks requested during field work. In particular, the intention is to emphasize the importance of the archaeological context as well as the acquisition, the interpretation and registration of the obtained information (stratigraphic, material culture, structures etc.).

Assessment and permitted materials

The students will be requested to follow important procedures during excavation and work together as a team under guidance in order to learn, acquire and improve their knowledge of and skills in excavation techniques, recording and drawing methods.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

A positive assessment of the course will be based on regular and active participation, successful fulfilment of each of the given tasks.

Examination topics

Independent handling of various archaeological methods and questions.
