Aims, contents and method of the course

Die griechische Sprache in ihren byzantinischen Erscheinungsformen wird Studenten mit vorhandenen Kenntnissen im Altgriechischen anhand der Lektüre ausgewählter Textbeispiele nahegelegt.

Ziel der Veranstaltung ist der Erwerb ausreichender Griechischkenntnisse zum selbständigen Lesen und Verstehen auch solcher byzantinischen Texte, für die es noch keine Übersetzungen in moderne europäische Sprachen vorhanden sind.

Examination topics

Repräsentative - leichte bis mittelschwere - Textabschnitte aus dem Bereich der byzantinischen Chronistik werden nach einer kurzen inhaltlichen Einführung im Hinblick auf ihre sprachliche Gestaltung behandelt.
