Primarily for doctoral candidates in Late Antique and Medieval Latin, be they at UniVie or guests from abroad. The course is regularly conducted using SKYPE to enable students in the USA to take part. The course is conducted in German and in English (according to the students' linguistic capabilities). Italian speakers have attended too. The course meets Fridays 15:00-17:00 in the Studien Service Office in the Institut für klassische Philologie.

Aims, contents and method of the course
Various (and variable) Late Antique and Medieval authors and topics.
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To enable students to make progress on their existing individual research projects and to give the group the chance to learn from the transferable methodological questions that arise from discussion of the individual projects.
Examination topics
Students (primarily doctorands) will regularly sign up to be active for an hour for a given week. This means that they may bring a question, a problem, or a text to discuss with the group. They may also submit a sample of their own writing for criticism. Class time may also be used for dry runs of conference papers.
