Continuous assessment of course work

Field trip (including meetings before and after the excursion) to the historic sites of the Republic of Armenia, with special emphasis on the medieval period and the relations between Byzantium and Armenia.
Participation in the VO 'Armenische Geschichte', Dr. Preiser-Kapeller
and in the VO 'Armenien', Prof. Dr. Theis (Kunstgeschichte) is highly recommended.

Participation in all these events is mandatory.

Assessment and permitted materials

Handout (15%), oral participation (25%), oral presentation during the field trip (30%), oral presentation during the mini-conference after the trip (30%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Exploration of the influence of Byzantine culture on the Caucasus region.

Examination topics

Independent high-level student research on objects of material culture in the course of visits to excavation sites, churches and monasteries and museums.
