Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture covers the time from the highs of minoan art (mid 2th century b.c.) to the construction of the Konstantin's arc (315 AD). Among the covered arts are buildings, sculptures and reliefs also on buildings as well minor arts as vases cameos and jewelry. The most important pieces of antique art will be introduced to you in chronological order. The historical background and literary sources will complete the view on the antique monuments.
Assessment and permitted materials
The grade is solely based on a written exam at the end of the term
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The goal of this lecture is to give students a broad overview of classical archeology using the most important subject areas and materials.
Examination topics
During our spare time you will be introduced to the common methods like typology, iconography, iconology and stylistic analysis.
