Assessment and permitted materials

1. Your presence (max 2 leaves of absence)
2. Running homeworks to be announced during the semester.
Please expect one homework every 2-3 weeks.
3. Mid-term examination
4. Final examination

QUANTIFICATION OF YOUR OUTPUT
- Presence (max 2 leaves of absence) as a prerequisite to attend the examination
- Homeworks 10%
- Mid-term and final examinations 90%

However, please also consider: In courses with immanent examination the non-fulfillment of one of the (three) criteria mentioned above leads to failing the course.

Hence please take your homeworks and your presence as seriously as you take your examinations.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquiring basic theoretical and practical knowledge in Linguistics, with a special focus o German Linguistics.

Examination topics

Activating teaching methods focussed on immergent learning and understanding processes, leading the students towards an independent ellaboration of topics.

1.Working materials to be sent on a regular basis via mail.
2. Peter Ernst: Germanistische Sprachwissenschaft, UTB Basics, Wiener Universitätsverlag
all editions and reprints from 2008 on.
3. Jörg Meibauer: Einführung in die germanistische Linguistik, J.B. Metzler, alle three editions.
