Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course deals with the syntactic and semantic properties of coordination, with a special focus on German. After a general intro, we will try to formulate problems for current syntactic and semantic theories (based on the existing literature) and to test the predictions of the various analyses empirically. The goal of this course is to get students involved in the subject matter, but also to further their understanding of scientific research more generally, and help them understand how empirical facts relate to linguistic theory.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants should we willing to acquire a background in syntax and semantics. There will be a reading group for this course where we will review some of the syntactic and semantic notions (participation in this reading group is optional).
