Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Systematic study of the Spanish grammar with special emphasis on syntactic structures and discourse markers. Thematic study of vocabulary. Oral and written practice of the language based on various text types related to Spanish-speaking cultural spheres. Two literary works are read during the course (see reference under "Literatur"). Use of listening comprehension materials and videos.

Assessment and permitted materials

1. Regular attendance and participation in class. 2. Three compositions as homework assignments during the semester. 3. One exam on a reading assignment (short stories). 4. One written assinment on a book. 5. One final written exam on grammar and vocabulary. 6. Oral exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grammar acquisition and development of the four language skills (oral and written expression, reading and listening comprehension), for the achievement of the C1 level of the European Framework required as the threshold level for the B.A.

Examination topics

a) In class: grammar explanations and intensive practice through a great variety of exercies; listening comprehension exercises; oral expression: group work centered on discussion topics with/without a reading as a starting point, presentations, round table discussions. Thematic vocabulary study
b) students' autonomous work (outside of class) grammar study and preparation of the corresponding exercises; composition practice (narrative and argumentative texts); reading of two literary works (see below); watching films (on the Web)
