Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives:
- To describe the distinct stages in the formation of literature
- Comparison of representative Romanian and European authors (canonical and non-canonical);
- Defining European literary identity.

- Theoretical course (History/ Criticism/ Literary Theory)
- Contemporary Romanian novel. Provocarea memoriei (H. Ursu, Asediul Vienei; M. Cărtărescu, Orbitor)
- The Contemporary Romanian Novel. Provocarea memoriei (H. Ursu, M. Cărtărescu)
- Neo-realism in the novel of the 60s. Marin Preda, „Cel mai iubit dintre pământeni” (1980)
- War novels: C. V. Gheorghiu, "Ora 25" (1949) (Comparison with Curzio Malaparte, „Kaputt”, 1944)
- The introspective novel: Max Blecher, "Occurrences in Immediate Unreality" (1936)
- Decadent novels: Mateiu I. Caragiale, "Craii de Curtea-Veche" (1929) and Panait Istrati, "Chira Chiralina" (1923)
- Avant-garde prose: Urmuz, "Bizarre Pages" (1922)

Historical methods and more recent analysis models; see the content of the listed literature.
Materials made available on the course Moodle page (slides, supplementary materials, worksheets, examples, interactive exercises, etc.);
Teaching materials for individual sessions will be made available on Moodle.
Knowledge of the ideologies and authors presented during the semester.
Presentation of a comparison between authors and texts.
Grading scheme:
90-100%: 1
80-89%: 2
70-79%: 3
60-60%: 4
< 60% nicht bestanden
