Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Systematic study of the Spanish grammar with special emphasis on syntactic structures and discourse markers. Oral and written practice of the language and intensive vocabulary practice based on various text types related to Spanish-speaking cultural spheres. Two literary works are read during the course (see reference under "Literatur"). Use of listening comprehension materials and videos.

Assessment and permitted materials

El rendimiento en el curso se evaluará según la siguiente puntuación:
Participación, inclusive entrega de 3 redacciones: 10 puntos
Comprobación de lectura de una novela : 25 puntos
Redacción en clase sobre 3 cuentos cortos: 25 puntos
Examen oral (sobre una novela y 3 videos vistos en clase): 40 puntos
Examen escrito (gramática y léxico): 100 puntos
Total de puntos: 200 puntos

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grammar and vocabulary acquisition and development of the four language skills (oral and written expression, reading and listening comprehension), for the achievement of the C1 level of the European Framework required as the threshold level for the B.A.

Examination topics

a) In class: grammar explanations and intensive practice through a great variety of exercies; listening comprehension exercises; oral expression: group work centered on discussion topics with/without a reading as a starting point, presentations, round table discussions.
b) students' autonomous work (outside of class) grammar study and preparation of the corresponding exercises; composition practice (narrative and argumentative texts); reading of two literary works (see below); watching films (on the Web)
