Aims, contents and method of the course

Knowing the theories about Media Science
Understanding Romanian media and their socio-historical functions

Subjects:
-Media: contextualization;
-Media theories
-Media functions in a social context
-Romanian media and state formation:
a. The evolution of the press in the 19th century
b. Romanian radio. Contextualization
c. Romanian television and the "live revolution"
d. New media (www). The "Resist" phenomenon

The methods of the course will be exhibition, with varied materials and interactive at the end of each course.

Assessment and permitted materials

-written exam;
-oral exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

-knowing the theories about media status;
-exemplification of the specifics of the Romanian media;
-comparative analysis and global understanding of media function.
