Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Presentation of the beginning of "peripherical literatures" in Spanish America from Columbus until the 17th century. We shall analyze the texts written at the margins of European dominant cultures in order to enter into a dialogue with European Humanism from their marginal position qhich however offers these authors innovatice possibilities and perspectives which were not available to European authors - until the "normalization which took plkace during the 17th century and apparently condemned these innovative tendencies to silence. By doing this, we also intend to question global verdicts by literary critics of the 19th and 20th century who judged these literatures as "imitative" and "worthless"
