Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Through this course, I propose the comparative analysis of two film movements with the same title: "La Nouvelle Vague/ New Wave"
Objectives:
Knowledge of the similarities and differences between the two movements;
Comparative analysis of representative films ('A bout de souffle', Godart and 'Death of Mr Lazarescu', Puiu)

The method is interactive and analytical, by studying significant sequences to highlight the aesthetics of the two cinematic movements.

Assessment and permitted materials

Presenting a film during the semester via moodle (BigBlueButton);
Completing a referat regarding the New Wave aesthetics (sended via email or moodle).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

1. Understanding the relationship between society and film and the aesthetic specificity of the film;
2. Critical analysis of the relationship between films;
3. Appropriate presentation of representative sequences from the "New Wave" films, from the two cinemas.

Examination topics

Oral test;
Presentation.
