Aims, contents and method of the course

"Soy bióloga molecular y vivo en Argentina", sagt eine der Figuren im argentinischen Film Historias mínimas (2002), um gleich anzufügen, dass hierin ein Widerspruch bestünde. Biopolitik, das ist Molekularpolitik, Thanatopolitik, Anthropopolitik; das Bewusstsein darum, dass 'Natur' nicht mehr als Außenbegriff für (menschliche) Kultur funktioniert, dass Biologie aufgehört hat, "Schicksal" zu sein und invasiv geworden ist... Mit scharfem Blick für geopolitische Situierung setzen zahlreiche zeitgenössische Filme der spanischsprachigen Welt die neuen Verfügbarkeiten des Lebens in Szene. ---
Einführung in Filmanalyse sowie in Themen der Biopolitik mit ihren ethischen und ästhetischen Implikationen; Übungen und Diskussionen; eigenständiges theoriegeleitetes Arbeiten und Analyse ausgewählter Filmbeispiele.

Assessment and permitted materials

Mitarbeit; Zwischenprüfung; Referat; schriftliche Proseminararbeit. Eine einführende Bibliographie wird zu Beginn der LV zur Verfügung gestellt.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grundkenntnisse der Filmanalyse; Grundkenntnisse im Bereich Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten (Recherche, Bibliographie, Argumentationsaufbau), Orientierungswissen Kultur- und Medientheorie sowie Geschichte des Films in Spanien und Lateinamerika
