Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar will work on music in Latin America as a cultural and identity base.
First we will study the rhythms and instruments of the Amerindian cultures.
Later we will see the music-cultural contacts between Amerindian music and the arrival of Europe and Africa.
Finally we will study the resulting rhythms as samples of new identities emerged in Latin America.
Depending on the number of students in the group, the most appropriate working method will be decided.
