Aims, contents and method of the course

In this lecture course students will be introduced to some of the basic skills and competences that will enable them to appreciate and interpret literary texts. By means of a wide range of classic and contemporary English texts, they will be acquainted with the major literary genres as well as with relevant terminologies and with some of the most influential schools of literary criticism.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The lecture course aims at providing students with a firm grounding in some of the key concepts of literary theory and criticism, which will qualify them as competent and critical readers with an understanding of different interpretive approaches to literary texts.
