Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will be acquainted with naturalism and aestheticism, two literary movements at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century that run more or less parallel to each other
but are completely different in character.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral presentation, 22-24 pp. essay, final written test.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will learn to differentiate between a naturalist and an aestheticist style of writing and the philosophical (political, historical, cultural) implications by which these styles of writing are informed.

Examination topics

Power point presentations in class, followed by discussion.
