New from 22 Nov 2021: The class moves to online only. Our planned on-site sessions will not take place until further notice.
This course will take place online, with weekly synchronous meetings via BBB on Moodle.However, if possible in the context of safety and hygiene regulations, we will have 2-3 onsite meetings for those sessions in which we will focus on interactive activities and peer feedback.Our first meeting will be online, and we will then assess together whether and when to meet for these on-site session.-

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course is designed to help students who are writing their MA theses to develop a structured plan for their theses. Participants will be able to present work in progress and receive feedback on the methods and approaches with which they are planning to work. It is recommended that students attend this class who have already found a supervisor and a topic for their MA thesis.
Assessment and permitted materials
Individual presentation of research project, three written tasks (abstract, short proposal and longer text selection from thesis project), individual and group work within sessions
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Course evaluation is based on:
(A) class participation and preparation of reading/other course materials (max 20 pts - 20% of your grade)
(B) project presentation (max. 50 pts - 50% of your grade)
(C) written assignment (max. 30 pts - 30% of your grade)The minimum requirements for passing the course are:
(a) regular class attendance (max. 2 missed session)
(b) active class participation
(c) giving project presentation on time
(d) handing in the written assignment (on time)
(d) attaining the pass rate of 60 pointsGrades:
Sehr gut (very good): 90-100
Gut (good): 80-89
Befriedigend (satisfactory): 70-79
Genügend (pass): 60-69
Nicht Genügend (fail): 0-59
