Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course deals with the language produced by learners of English as a second language. This includes spoken and written, planned and spontaneous, beginner and advanced ESL and EFL production. During the introductory phase of the seminar we will discuss general matters such as the status of learner language from the perspective of different language learning theories, different types of learner language and learner corpora, as well as the different levels of linguistic analysis that can be brought to bear on learner language. After the initial intensive phase, participants will work on their individual projects. Oral presentations will be given during a seminar conference in December. Attendance at the seminar conference is obligatory.
