Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Transcription and anylitical skills together with knowledge of terminology and modes of desciption are assessed in the final examination for course 201.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
i) Students will be able to transcribe accurately a short text in one of the standard varieties of modern Englishii) Students will have a sound knowledge of a basic terminology and of a set of descriptive categories.
Examination topics
Practical transcription and analytical activities, followed by discussion. Occasional short supplementary theoretical presentations.
Reading list
Practice material will be distributed as necessaary. The following books are also recommended:British English:
