Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

We will be discussing critical and literary texts from the 16th to the 21st centuries from English-speaking countries. The texts will be available as a reader at the beginning of the term. Students will also be required to read a novel and a play, which will be set in the first lecture.
There will be a written examination at the end of the lecture course.

This lecture course will introduce students to the following aspects:
- the problems and subject areas of literary studies
- genre characteristics
- reading positions, reading practices
- modern literary theories and approaches
- the necessary terminology
