a) the relevance of theoretical and methodological issues to the language teacher, e.g. the scope of pragmatics with relation to semantics vs. psycho- and sociolinguistics; pragmatics as a language level vs. a perspective on language; data collection techniques;
b) micropragmatic notions as compared to their semantic equivalents: presupposition, deixis, implicature, speech acts and how to teach them;
c) macro-pragmatic notions: social pragmatics, cross-cultural pragmatics, and pragmatic competence - do teachers need them?
d) detailed problems: the structure of conversation, pragmatic failure, pragmatic particles, etc.
