Aims, contents and method of the course
Building on the introductory module (STEP), this course discusses the basics of academic writing and research methodology with the help of hands-on examples from English linguistics. Students will apply some of the methods introduced in the course to real language data and will present the findings of their projects in class.

Students are familiar with:
- The basic principles of academic research
- Different qualitative and quantitative approaches to analysing data
- The basic conventions of academic writing
