Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This is an interactive proseminar with the aim of introducing research methods used in psycholinguistic research on language learning. The proseminar is suited for students interested into research of individual differences in second or multiple language acquisition. The proseminar will concentrate on providing practical insights into testing language learners based on an ongoing large research project and database about neuroanatomical-, neurofunctional, psycholinguistic and cognitive-psychological differences between high and low aptitude second language learners.
Assessment and permitted materials
own field work, discussion in class, presentations and group work, proseminar paper
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
This course aims at introducing the participants to the field of SLA-research with special focus on psycholinguistic aspects, providing practical background information and insights into the nature of research on language learning as well as familiarizing with recent and ongoing research in the field and the tools used. The course should be highly interactive and practical with students elaborating own field work (testing) and analyzing, reporting/discussing their findings in class.
