Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The objective is to consolidate and extend students' knowledge of different approaches to linguistic description, and importantly, to encourage them to develop their own critical understanding of these, particularly as they relate to the study of English.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants will be expected to demonstrate a sufficient degree of familarity with the topics discussed in the lecture by passing the final test.

Examination topics

Lecture, student participation in session and independent study between sessions (readings).
