Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this lecture course we will study the relationship between the different parts of its title. In so doing we will be revisiting concepts and topics in linguistics which students might find familiar, but showing how they can be extended and integrated to provide a coherent account of English in use. The objective of the course is to encourage students to develop their own critical understanding of language use by considering their studies of English language, linguistics and literature from a fresh perspective.
Assessment and permitted materials
written final exam paper (most likely online)Please note that a plausibility check will be carried out: the examiner may pose you questions with respect to the content of the exam up to four weeks after the exam in order to assess the plausibility that you actually provided the answers yourselves. This may take place in a purely random way even in the absence of suspicious circumstances. The plausibility check will be carried out orally and chosen students will be contacted via email.
