Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course surveys approaches to transfer or cross-linguistic influence in multilingual acquisition and use. We review a range of theoretical (psycho)linguistic models of transfer and critically explore their conceptual foundations and empirical coverage. During the semester, students will build on this knowledge to develop a research project which examines cross-linguistic influence in a subdomain of linguistics. This leads to a seminar / BA paper.

Aims:
Students will have an overview of models of cross-linguistic in multilingual acquisition and use. Students will be able to critically discuss approaches to cross-linguistic influence and its role in multilingual development. They will be able to develop and address research questions on cross-linguistic influence based on sound theoretical and empirical knowledge.
