Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Content:
This is an interactive course with the aim of introducing new research or language teaching practices and practical methodological examples in the broad realm of neuroscientific / neurolinguistics, psycho-linguistic and SLA research on language learning, second language acquisition, multilingualism and language teaching. The course is suited for students interested into research of cognitive neuroscience or neuropsychology of second or multiple language acquisition. The course is an exploration into new practical and theoretical insights into the field and its newest literature, in order to render the course participants sensitive towards new methodological paradigms and try exploring new methods.

Aim:
This course aims at introducing the participants to the field of cognitive neuroscience and SLA in a very broad sense with special focus on alternative, non-mainstream or non-formal methods of language teaching, providing practical background information and insights into the nature of research. The course should be highly interactive and practical with students elaborating their own group projects (presentation of a preferred topic chosen from this field, additionally students can bring in own material and ideas, 'mini teaching workshops in class'). Students should discuss their findings and thoughts in class.

Methods
Project/group/student presentations, all-class discussions of topic presentations, 'explorative mini-teaching workshops', group discussions, short end of term resume paper (group work).

Assessment and permitted materials
