Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This Side of In-Yer-Face: English Drama of the 1990s: Frequently, the 1990s are labelled as the decade of in-yer-face theatre, dominated by two new provocative playwrights: Sarah Kane and Mark Ravenhill. However, in this seminar we will focus on plays by established dramatists which can be situated this side of in-yer-face. The texts belong to a wide variety of genres and employ a wide variety of dramatic aesthetics, among them a political play, a doku-drama, bio-plays, and comedies of bad manners.
