Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this seminar, we will be looking at recent writing from the UK: poems, short stories, novel extracts from a variety of genres. The aim is to analyse these contemporary texts using a range of secondary material and referring to a number of literary approaches. Students will be expected to present and discuss their findings in class and contribute to discussions.
Assessment and permitted materials
Individual presentations, participation in discussions, development of research question and abstract, individual term (or bachelor) papers
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Attendance is obligatory. Two absences will be excused (no need to let me know in advance, unless you have taken over a presentation or something similar).
Assessment is based on the following:
• A research question and abstract (10 pts)
• An academic paper of 6000 words (8000 for bachelor papers) (55 pts)
• Attendance and active participation in class and at SE conference (15 pts)
• A presentation at the seminar conference (20 pts)If any of these are not handed in or fulfilled at all, you cannot pass this class.
Max. 100 pts; Pass rate: 60%
Grading scale:
100-90 Sehr Gut
91-80 Gut
81-70 Befriedigend
71-60 Genügend
59-0 Nicht Genügend
