Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The students will get acquainted with classical female writers of the 19th century.
Assessment and permitted materials
Class participation, oral presentation (20-30 minutes), essay (15-17 pages - for BA students writing their BA thesis 25-27 pages), and final written test.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The students acquire substantial knowledge about the form, content, and style of their most famous novels and their historical, social, and political background.
Examination topics
Oral presentations in class followed by discussions.
Reading list
Jane Austen, "Pride and Prejudice"; Charlotte Brontë, "Jane Eyre"; Emily Brontë, "Wuthering Heights"; George Eliot, "The Mill on the Floss". All books will be available at the Campus bookstores.
