Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course will deal with "Black" British writing and its role in a multiethnic British society. In particular, we will be analysing Zadie Smith's novel White Teeth from 2000, and bring it together with a variety of theoretical writings about culture and society. Students will prepare individual presentations which form the basis for class discussions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The submission of a term paper and the participation and presentation at the conference are minimum requirements. The overall pass rate is 60%.
Attendance is mandatory, the third absence (of a 90 minute unit) will result in a negative grade.
