Aims, contents and method of the course
This AR will deal with a selection of British poetry from Shakespeare's time to the 20th century.
Assessment and permitted materials
class participation, oral presentation, essay (10-12 pages) or final written test
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The students become acquainted with form, content, and style of famous British poems and thus gain insight into the history of British poetry.
Examination topics
oral presentations in class followed by discussions

A reader with selected poems will be available before the semester begins: Shakespeare, "Sonnet no. 18"; Donne, "The Flea"; Pope, "The Rape of the Lock"; Swift, "A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed"; Blake, "The Tyger"; Wordsworth, "The Daffodils"; Keats, "On First Looking into Champman's Homer"; Tennyson, "The Lady of Shalott"; Arnold, "Dover Beach"; Browning, "My Last Duchess"; W.B.
