Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Poetry is an immensely versatile genre. Its forms range from the venerable ode to the whimsical limerick, from the long philosophical poem to the ultra-short haiku, from the Romantic lyric poem to modern-day song lyrics and performance poetry. This course explores the traditions, practices, theories and major representatives of poetry, placing special emphasis on recent developments (such as computer poetry) and the genre's unique position within the literary field (Bourdieu).
