Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this workshop we will analyse one-act plays by two major dramatists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Harold Pinter, winner of the nobel-prize for literature, and Neil LaBute, controversial playwright and film-maker, are masters of the short dramatic form. Pinter's early one-act plays established his idiosyncratic aesthetic, peculiarities that have come to be labelled 'Pinteresque', while his later short plays have a marked political focus. The multi-talented American Neil LaBute, who acknowledges Pinter's influence on his work, enjoys to challenge, provoke and shock his audience.
