Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The aim of this course is to introduce students to a selection of texts dealing with the topic of Christmas in very diverse ways, to raise their awareness of the emotional impact of literary devices (eliciting empathy, creating suspense, signalling detachment/distance) and of the cultural and historical embeddedness of these texts. Students will be given an opportunity to discuss these texts in class and to develop ideas for using them in their own teaching.
