Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will focus on short story masterpieces which have been accepted into the canon of English and American literature, have received a lot of critical attention and have been given divergent interpretations. In the discussions in class, we will analyse the ways in which the authors achieve their effects and invite contradictory responses. We will interpret a variety of texts ranging from the beginnings of the short story to modernism and beyond, paying attention to both style and content.
