Aims, contents and method of the course

This course provides future teachers of English with guidelines for the use of literature in the language classroom.
Issues covered: uses of literature in EFL; Eng. lit. in the context of the Austrian curriculum, VWA & Matura; criteria for text selection; principles, approaches, techniques & activities; literary analysis: basic techniques for the EFL classroom; practical advice on how to write an academic paper; introduction to outstanding examples of YAL...

Assessment and permitted materials

participation in (online) discussions and written activities, term paper

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The final grade is composed as follows :
20% active (online) participation
80% paper
Both requirements need to be fulfilled, the pass mark is 60%.

1: 100 - 98,99%
2: 89,98 – 79,99%
3: 79,98 – 69,99%
4: 69,98 - 59,99%
5: 59,98% and below
