Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Whether you call it comic books, graphic novels or graphic narratives this visual medium offers its audiences two channels of representaion: the word and the image.Comics or Sequential Art produce meaning at the intersection of text and visual image. Because of their high specificity, they are especially well-suited for developing analytical skills regarding medium-specific modes of meaning production. So what are these specific mechanisms and images, and how do comics use them in order to invade our daily realities and construct their own?

Students are required to read all the texts from the primary reading list.
They will also be asked to read selected articles from a list of secondary literature, which will be available to them via MOODLE.
They will have to hand in written assignments and will be asked to hold oral presentations.
